Sibylla, læ, fœm, gen. A generall name of all women whiche had the spirite of propheste: of them (as Varro and Lactantius doe write) were tenne: the first called Persica, the seconde Libyca, the thirde Delphica, the fourth Cumæa, the fift Erythrea, the sixt Samia, the seuenth Cumana, the eyght Hellespontia, the ninth Phrygia, the tenth Tyburtina: euery one of these (as Lactantius saith) prophecied of the incarnation of Christ.
