Phrygius, a, um, Of Phrygia.Phrygium melos, A melodie or tune in instruments, wherein seemed to be (as Lucianus sayth) a manner of diuine surie, albeit Porphyrius calleth it barbarous. Cassiadorus sayth, that the melodie, called Dorium, giueth wisedome and chastitie: Phrygium stirreth to battaile, and infiameth the desire of furie: Aeolium appeaseth the tempestes of the mind, and bringeth in sleepe: Lydium, quicketh vnderstanding in them that be dull, and induceth appetite of celestiall thinges.
