Permétt-ere, v. a. (V. mettere,)
1. to permit, to suffer, to let, to allow, to give leave. L'onestà non mel permette, it is against my honour. Mi permetta ch'io le dica da amico, let me tell you as a friend; 2. to suffer, to wink at, to tolerate; v. r. to allow one's self to do any thing; adj. Permétt-énte.
