Hippocrates, The name of a most excellent phisition scholar to Democrates, and liued in the time of Perdiccas king of Macedonie in his court. Artaxerxes king of Persia wrate of this Hippocrates in this maner to Hystanes his Liefetenaunt of Hellespont, as Suidas witnesseth. The great king Artaxerxes to his Liefetenaunt Hystanes, sendeth greeting. I haue heard of the fame of the notable Phisition Hippocrates. See therefore that thou giue him as muche money as hee will desire, with all other thinges necessarie, and sende him to me. He shall be in as great honour with me, as the best in all Persia. &c. He died being 104. yeares of age. There were also of the same name and stock fiue other, all notable and famous in Phisick, but this farre passed them all.
