Scoppiáre, v. n.
1. to burst, explode, crack, break. Mangiò tanto che scoppiò, he ate till he burst; 2. to have a great mind, to long.Ma io scoppio dentro a un dubbio, but I have a great mind to know, but I long to know; 3. to proceed, come, rise, come out, spring. E come un pensier dall'altro scoppia, and as one thought draws on another; 4. to crack (as fire-arms do when discharged), to bounce; 5. to burst (as a gun-barrel); 6. to growl (said of thunder);7. to suffer, to be in pain. Scoppiare il cuore,to break one's heart, be deeply afflicted; v. a. & r. 1. to uncouple, part, separate; 2. to become cracked.
