Ister, A great riuer called Danubius, in dutche, Donow. It cammeth out of an bill in Germanie, called of Plinie Noba, of Ptolomie Arnoba, of Tacitns Arbona. It receiueth into it three score riuers, whereof the more part be nanigable, and runneth by Swaue, Bauier, Owstrike, Hnngarie, Valachia, and so through Europe, and falleth into the Sea called Pontns in seuen sdrie places, as Solinus & Mela write. But Plinie and Tacitus affirme but six. Herodotus, Arrianus and other but fiue. While it is in Germanie, it is called Danubius, and when it cõmeth into a part of Thracia called Istria, where it is brodest, it is then called Ister.
