Aethiopia, A great countrie in Affrike, conteining two regions: the hither and the further Aethiope. The hither that is aboue Aegypt, hath on the North Aegypt, Marmarike, and Lybia: on the West, the inner Lybia: on the South, the further Aethiope: on the East the redde Sea. In this countrie is the Ile Meroe, where Saint Mathewe is reported to haue preached the Gospell. The further Aethiope hath on the North, the inner Lybia, & the hither Aethiope: on the West and South the Occean sea: on the East, the goulfe called Barbaricum. In this countrie be the Mountaines out of which Nilus issueth.
