1. to shun, avoid, eschew. Ogni uomo deve — la mala compagnia, every body ought to shun bad company; 2. to despise, contemn, disdain; 3. to loathe, detest, abhor, to be disgusted with; 4. to refuse, deny; s. m. Schifá-tóref. Schifá-tríce; adj. Schifá-nte.
